Silver and Gold!

This week Andrew went to his first Karate Tournament and did great! He competed in two events, forms (where they run through a choreographed routine of karate techniques) and sparring (where they put on gear and 'fight' - think about the movie 'Karate Kid'). He got Silver and Gold medals, respectively. Very exciting for his first event!

Andrew was also selected last week to represent his town/school in Skills USA! for Architectural Drafting. This will happen at the end of March - if he wins he will represent CT in the National contest in Kansas City. From the website they describe his event as: Architectural Drafting- Contestants will use their drafting skills to solve an Architectural problem. The problem includes a written test, a hand sketch, a computer-generated problem and a problem that may be solved using EITHER board drafting or CAD. The contest tests the contestants' problem solving abilities, not simply their CAD skills. Wish him luck!
